Accounts Payable Supervisor

Summary

Plans and directs activities within the accounts payable department by performing the following duties, personally or through delegation to subordinates.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Assists in the development and implementation of goals, policies, priorities, and procedures relating to accounts payable (AP).

Supervises and participates in the preparation of various AP statements and reports. 

Audits weekly AP disbursements for accuracy.

Assesses need and controls departmental expenditures in line with budget.

Coordinates preparation of internal and external audit materials.

Assists internal audits involving review of accounting and administrative controls.

Assists in establishing system controls for new financial systems and develops procedures to improve existing systems.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises a total of 8 employees in the accounts payable department. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree or equivalent; or four to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

4+ years’ experience

Computer Knowledge and Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of SAP Accounting and Microsoft Office software
