All over the world, people struggle with unaddressed vision issues due to a lack of awareness, resources, and intervention.

In fact, nearly 2.2 billion people globally have vision impairment or blindness, but 1 billion of these cases could have easily been prevented.

A new vision care partnership

We’ve teamed up with Orbis – a global organisation that mentors, trains and inspires local Eye Care Professionals to save sight in their communities.

 

Orbis is dedicated to reducing avoidable vision issues by creating awareness and providing education. We are humbled by the opportunity to partner with Orbis in bridging the vision care gap.

Our partnership will come to life as three intertwined programs founded on three pillars.

Reach

Systemic vision impairment issues require long-term solutions from both local and global organisations. The REACH program aims to provide students with access to in-school vision care by working with partner hospitals to train teachers to perform basic eye examinations. The program will operate primarily in India and Nepal, with an emphasis on helping girls, who tend to be less likely to seek care.

Education

Education is essential to increasing eye health awareness and enabling Eye Care Professionals in developing countries to treat and prevent blindness and visual impairment. HOYA will support Orbis by providing expert optical training and knowledge through CyberSight – an online webinar and training platform for Eye Care Professionals.

Communication

Communication builds community. Our goal is to create an established network of partner Eye Care Professionals and vision health organisations who’ll work together to improve the eye health of local communities across the globe. HOYA aims to empower organisations across the world to realise their vision and make a lasting impact through community, communication, and committed sponsorship.
