HOYA Announces New Sensity® 2 Light-Adaptive Lenses in Oceanic Blue

In time for summer, eye care providers can now offer a cool new color that appeals to younger wearers.

New Visionary Alliance™ promotion helps eye care providers double their points on qualifying orders.

LEWISVILLE, Texas, May 23, 2023 – Ophthalmic lens technology leader HOYA Vision Care announced today the newest color available in its popular Sensity® 2 light-adaptive lenses: Oceanic Blue. Just in time for summertime sun, Sensity 2 in Oceanic Blue appeals to a younger demographic seeking stand-out style and relief from issues related to light sensitivity. Two of every three eyecare patients experience light sensitivity, making light-adaptive lenses a convenient and comfortable everyday vision solution for most patients1.

Sensity 2 lenses now offer four natural color options: Silver Grey, Bronze Brown, Emerald Green, and the all-new Oceanic Blue. All colors are compatible with a wide variety of materials including HOYA’s single-vision, backside progressives and iD designs, and all of HOYA’s leading anti-reflective treatments.

Compared to its predecessor, Sensity 2 offers nearly twice the fadeback speed from outdoor to indoor – approximately 42 percent faster. HOYA Vision Care has created a product that rapidly darkens to a category 3 sun lens tint and still offers the same comfort, convenience, and protection as the entire Sensity family – with UV protection, reduced glare from the sun when activated, and blue light protection2.

Two key technological innovations underlie the lenses’ improved performance: Stabilight Technology provides consistent performance and UV protection in any climate. Next, Precision Technology ensures microscopically accurate spin-coating, creating superior adhesion for greater scratch resistance.

“Sensity 2 in Oceanic Blue is beautiful. The response we received at Vision Expo East was incredible, and it makes us especially excited to bring it to market,” said Warren Modlin, Vice President of Product Management for HOYA Vision Care, North America. “Our unwavering focus is to improve our products and increase their appeal to a larger demographic base. By adding bold, rich colors to our portfolio, we aim to reach younger people – who don’t typically fall into the photochromic category – with more cosmetic appeal plus critical UV and blue light protection.”

Interested ECPs can ask their HOYA Territory Sales Manager for more information about Sensity 2 Oceanic Blue light-adaptive lenses. Additionally, Visionary Alliance™ members can double their points when they order Sensity single-vision lenses with qualifying AR treatment through June 30, 2023.
