BANGKOK – 21 September 2021 – Hoya Vision Care, a leader in optical technology innovation, today announced they will participate in The World Society of Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (WSPOS) ‘Connect 2 The World’ Virtual Congress being held 25th-26th September 2021.

Dr. Natalia Vlasak, Ophthalmologist and Global Medical and Scientific Affairs Manager at HOYA Vision Care, will be joined by renowned experts Dr. Hakan Kaymak, Retina and Myopia Specialist University of Homburg Private Clinic Düsseldorf, as well as Dr. Weizhong Lan, professor and vice director of the Aier Institute of Optometry and Vision Science, Aier EYE Hospital Group in China, in a panel discussion ‘Managing myopia, together.’ to be held 26 September at 6:00 am GMT.

During the virtual panel, Dr. Kaymak and Dr. Lan will share their experience in managing myopia including a live panel discussion focusing on the latest protocols for myopia management. The discussion will include their experience prescribing the HOYA’s MiYOSMART lens to treat myopia in children. The session will also discuss the findings of a three-year clinical study recently published in the British Journal of Ophthalmology featuring the results of HOYA’s MiYOSMART spectacle lens. This study, conducted by the Centre for Myopia Research at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, is continuation of a two-year study which demonstrated evidence of the lenses’ effectiveness in slowing down the progression of myopia in children ages 8-13.[1]

“The MiYOSMART lens has been proven to slow down myopia progression in children ages 8-13, easily and effectively,” said Dr Natalia Vlasak, “I’m very pleased to have the opportunity to share our latest MiYOSMART clinical research data and to hear from top ophthalmology professionals who will discuss the latest trends in myopia management and share their experience in prescribing this life enhancing lens product during the WSPOS 2021 Virtual Congress.”

The award winning MiYOSMART lens won the coveted Grand Prize, Grand Award and Gold Medal at the 46th International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva in April 2018.  In October 2020, the lens was awarded the Silmo d’Or Award in the Vision Category at the Silmo Paris Optical show.

The WSPOS, an international society, recognizes that the majority of eye care delivered to children all over the world comes from adult ophthalmic surgeons who see children and paediatric ophthalmologists. The annual Congress, established in 2008, brings these experts together to focus on important issues and share the latest developments in the field.
