Hoya Vision team support Japanese elementary students

The Hoya Vision Care team in Japan have been participating in special science classes at the Miyagi Prefecture elementary schools in and around Sendai, the northern part of Japan. In recognition of these educational contributions, Hoya Vision Care was awarded a certificate of appreciation from the Sendai Board of Education, of which we are very grateful for.

According to the 2016 Annual Report of School Health Statistics Research issued by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology-- the percentage of Japanese elementary school students with visual acuity less than 20/20 was at a record high of 31.46%.

Because Hoya believe that it is important to have accurate knowledge about eye health and vision from a young age, Hoya Vision Care participates in lecturing sixth grade special science classes.  The Hoya vision team act as visiting corporate lecturers and help the students learn about the eyes, how they work, and how important they are. The classes also include information about what lens manufacturers and eyeglass stores provide, which provides a greater understanding of eyeglasses.

We are proud to continue a variety of initiatives to raise awareness about the eyes, their importance including vision health.
